MODEL SATURN

STEAMER FOR FABRICS

This machine was developed and designed to shrink any type of fabric,
particulary woolen fabrics, by means of steam.
The main action of the machine is to relax textile fibers and ensure the
dimensional stability of the fabric.
The fabric, overfed on the imput, is spread on a perforated conveyor
belt made of fiberglass and Kavlar that carrier it through the different treatment sections.
The first two sections of the treatment system consist of high temperature steamer
tunnels made of stainless steel and equippes with anti-condensation units.
Between the two sections there is device that makes the belt vibrate to facilitate
the relaxation and shrinkage of the fibers.
As the fabric leaves the steam tunnels it passes through an
adjustable drying section that applies forced hot air.
This is followed by a double cooling section that halts the movement
of the fibers (thermal shock). Both the drying section
and the cooling section are located underneath the conveyor
belt so as to prevent direct contact between the air flow
and the right side of the fabric. An important innovation on the SATURN model
is the hydro-pneumatic unit for raising the anti-condensation hoods
by 600 mm and loosening the convoyer belt to permit easy
cleaning and maintenance of the steam bowls.
As it leaves the machine, the fabric can be folded on a platform,
folded on a stand or dropped into a "JBOX"
for a subsequent continuous rolling operation.
